ACOLYTES/TORCHBEARERS: Young boys and girls in our congregation who are in the third grade or older are invited to become acolytes. Most of the young children begin as torchbearers and as they mature, progress to the position of server. Torchbearers lead the procession into Church with the lighted candles. Servers assist the Priest at the Sunday morning services, which can include Baptisms and Confirmations. They also assist during the preparation of the Holy Eucharist. Acolytes fulfill a very important function in the service while developing a better understanding of worship by being involved in the rites of the Church.
ALTAR GUILD: Members of the Altar Guild are responsible for preparation of the altar for all services of the Church including weddings and funerals. It is their duty to clean and polish the silver and brass and see that the linen on the altar, as well as the vestments for the priest, are in good condition and well cared for. The Altar Guild is responsible for placing the flowers on the altar for the Sunday services. The Altar Guild members require a special dedication, faithfulness and commitment to the Church.
CHOIR: Holy Trinity is truly blessed with a very gifted and talented Choir Director, Mack Golden. The Choir currently numbers approximately twelve men and women. It is not necessary to read music to participate. The only qualification for membership in the Church Choir is a desire to sing praise to our God. Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings at 7:00PM in the Parish Hall. The Choir leads the hymns, service music and anthems at the 10:30 AM service each Sunday. Special music is prepared for Advent, Christmas and Holy Week. The Choir vacations during the summer months.
COFFEE HOST/HOSTESSES: Coffee host/hostesses are men and women from the congregation who volunteer to make coffee and assist with serving after the Sunday and Wednesday services, and then tidy the kitchen before leaving the Church. They also assist at special receptions throughout the year such as visits by the Bishop. This ministry provides an opportunity to become acquainted and enjoy fellowship with members of the congregation, newcomers and guest.
GREETERS: Holy Trinity makes a real effort to make visitors feel welcome. At the Sunday morning services, greeters, usually two members of the same family, are stationed inside the front door to welcome all those attending the service. After the Service, the greeter is available to introduce visitors to other members of the congregation and accompany the visitors to the Parish Hall after each service for fellowship. Greeters normally serve one month per year.
LECTORS: Lectors are members of the Church who read the scripture during Church services. Lectors are active during weddings, funerals, and other special services. Lectors are scheduled at each service on Sundays and also on Wednesday mornings.
OBLATIONER: Members of the congregation serve as oblationers at the 10:30 AM service each Sunday as well as at special services throughout the year. Oblationers take the gift of wine and bread from the Narthex of the Church to the Altar to be presented to the Priest for the Holy Eucharist. This presentation is made at the time the offerings are collected during the service.
USHER: Ushers distribute bulletins, assist those who need help finding seating, collect the offerings, count communicants at the service, and tidy up the Church after the service. They act as assistants during the service to anyone who has special needs.
