YOUTH GROUP:The youth group is involved in community service activities such as making and delivering Thanksgiving baskets, running the Pumpkin Patch and sponsoring the bake sale during the annual Kibby Dinner. They have weekend retreats, attend summer camp and enjoy movie and pizza parties to name a few of the youth activities. Membership is open to all youths from the age of 13 through 18.
SENIOR LUNCH BUNCH:The Senior Lunch Bunch meets the first Tuesday of the month unless otherwise announced. All Seniors in the community are invited and asked to bring a covered dish to be shared by all. Activities and programs include guest speakers, entertainers, musicians, readings, devotionals, book reviews, sing-alongs and education on senior health to name a few. A good time is had by all.
SUNDAY SCHOOL:Holy Trinity offers Sunday School activities for nursery through Adult Education. Sunday School is held from September through May beginning at 9:15 AM. This time period is between the 8:00 AM and 10:30 AM services on Sunday morning, enabling members of the congregation who attend either service to also attend Sunday School. The activities of the Sunday School are coordinated through the capable leadership of the Christian Education Director.
FOOTBALL BREAKFAST:Once a year, in October, the coaches and football team are honored with a breakfast furnished by our church. The breakfast is served at our Jubilee Center and takes many members of our congregation to feed this hearty, hungry bunch and help is always needed. For years, Holy Trinity was blessed with the loving influence of Mr. Andrew Andreyk, long-time science teacher at Sulphur High School. Mr. Andreyk was a favorite with the students and was instrumental in the inauguration of our Football Breakfast. Since Mr. Andreyk's death, we have dedicated our breakfast to his memory, and it is now known as the "Andy Andreyk Memorial Football Breakfast".
CARE/HELP:Holy Trinity is a member of a coalition of churches in the area whose purpose is to aid those in need through the special services of Care/Help. If a family or individual approaches one of the churches, they are referred to Care/Help. The family is supplied with food, clothing, or some monetary assistance when deemed necessary. Care/Help will pay a utility bill for area families when they fall upon rough times, or supply them with some of the items necessary to continue their life after a fire or some other disaster. Like all charitable organizations, Care/Help is always in need of supplies or money to continue their work. Holy Trinity supports the work of Care/Help by encouraging volunteers and by financial gifts.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL:This year's Vacation Bible School is scheduled for June 10-14, 2002 and is open to all starting with Pre-K through the fifth grade. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 11:30 AM, with a closing program and cook out on Friday for participants and family. Activities for Bible School include stories, crafts, Bible Study, and refreshments.
VESTRY:The Vestry, the governing body of the Church, consists of 12 persons elected from the church membership during the Annual Meeting in January. A Vestry person serves a three-year term, with four being replaced each year. In order to serve on the Vestry, a person must be a member of Holy Trinity for at least one year, attend Church regularly, and be a contributor of record. Meetings are usually held on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 PM and are open to any member of the congregation.CURSILLO:In Spanish, the word Cursillo means, "little course". This three-day retreat is held twice a year at Camp Hardtner in Pollock, La. in early spring and fall. Cursillo is for adults. Cursillo becomes a fulfilling experience, which lasts a lifetime, and serves as a reaffirmation that the Holy Spirit is truly alive. If there is an interest, contact should be made as quickly as possible as there is usually a waiting list for those who wish to attend.
CONFIRMATION:Confirmation is one of the sacramental rites of the Episcopal Church. It is a public and sacramental statement of two things. First, Confirmation represents God's call to us to be his servants, and his empowering us with his Spirit to do what we need to do in his service. Secondly, it signifies our personal acceptance of the responsibilities attached to being a servant. As Baptism is a sacrament to mark our entry into the family of God in the Church, Confirmation signifies taking our place in the ministry of the Church.
